Many people when designing a home do not give too much thought to the design, location and size of their front door. However, one of the most important parts of a home is the main entrance. A Feng Shui Consultant needs to be able to analyze the front door when doing a home consultation.
The front door is of great significance in Feng Shui as the entrance is considered to be the opening of a home. Knowing how to manipulate Chi /energy by having it entering through a good front entrance direction is an efficient method for enhancing the occupant’s fortune and health.
In order to achieve a good entrance, the front door should be located in one of the good magnetic Chi fields. Trees should be trimmed back if they overshadow in a way not allowing in sunlight. You can follow him at Google+.
A front entrance should not be too tall, too big or too low compared to the over-all dimensions of a home. Color Choices of front doors and trim can be based on the particular trigram of a home.
The Importance Of The Front Door!
The house in the picture is a very good example about the front door to be in the wrong spot. This home has a West Sitting (262.5 to 277.5 degree). Based on this Sitting the home belongs to the TUI Trigram. It is determined by the Feng Shui Consultant that the the front door is divided between two magnetic energy fields which are both extremely negative.
The Southeast quadrant in which the left part of the door is situated has the tendency to bring in misfortunes – the Eastern quadrant in which the right part of the door is located will bring out unproductive careers and poor finances. Having a door cut between two magnetic energy fields never provides a fortunate situation. The un-kept yard with overgrown walk ways also will not help the Chi energies of this home.
The home owners not only struggled for years with their careers, yet misfortunes like D.U.I.s (Drunk Driving) and losing inheritances does not make their lives any better. As this home is going into “Foreclosure” the new buyer will not have more “luck” no matter how “little money” one would purchase it for. In order to achieve a more harmonious life the front door needs to be moved to the North East quadrant (front right). This could easily be achieved since this house needs a major renovation anyhow.
As for Real Estate Investors it is often easy to “snatch up” these kind of properties for a good deal. But is it really a deal? Investing more money to renovate a home like this, and by ignoring the basic rules of Feng Shui this home will still be difficult to re-sell. If rented to future tenants – having to send out “eviction notices” will be the norm as these tenants can most likely not make a living in this house.
Should The Entrance Always Face South?
Many statements have been made by too many so-called Feng Shui Practitioners giving advice on where to place the front door – Please take note of the following example:
“The front door should be facing the east so that the house will always go with the rising sun (or as they interpret this, the family will always have a positive and a refreshed mood)“
Unfortunately a statement as this can make people feel frustrated because they may find it challenging even when planning their new construction to put their front door towards the East. Just think about this statement for a while! My house has a East Sitting and a West Facing. Basically the Feng Shui Consultant advises me that I should have my front door in my back yard? Well, that would be impossible and not very practical.
Based on the Sitting and Facing of a home or business we can determine what is called magnetic chi fields. We do hope that we can place the front door into one of the positive magnetic Chi fields in front of the house or at least on the side. Just to state that a family will always have a positive and refreshed mood is absolutely absurd.
Keep your front entry door clear
Avoid bushes and trees blocking your front door. The look might be appealing, yet for the purpose of energy flow in Feng Shui keep your entrance clear.
The entrance doors (people with attached garages have two entrances) should also be cleared of clutter – because you are very much effected by the energies since you are entering and leaving your house most likely many times a day – avoid negative chi energy in this area as well.
